It's Raining...It's Pouring...

Today....
When it rains, it pours!!!!  We had super rains last night!  The weather warmed and the snow melted, causing backyard flooding.  We may see this as scary or weird, but my Lab thinks this is the best thing ever!  He just wanted to play in it.  Scrape the snow underneath.  He is a silly dog.

Perspective.  See how much water there is?  Thankfully it is staying away from the house.  Look how small Bison looks?

The girls liked to walk in it too.  As you can see my youngest wore my boots (way too big) and slugged through the waters.  I have to say...I LOVE BOGS!  They are not good with walking on ice, but for everything else they are perfect!  You can walk in anything with those BOGS!  Best boot ever!

Well, by the looks of it, I think my family fits the "Idaho" look!  PJ's, boots, ski coats, flooding waters, the dog, and Chickens!  LOLOL!

They made it across.  They had a great time...I even think my girls bonded a little.  Thank you Lord for the little things.  We are truly blessed by our Heavenly Father!

"Neuter" Not So Fun

Our Baby Boy Bison (6 months old now) got fixed today!  It has been a process to get here.  He was scheduled originally for January 3rd and the Vet called to tell me his blood work came back "not normal".  His blood platelets were too low (blood too thin).  So after a few weeks of blood work and tests, he finally got his man-hood taken away!  I was excited to get him neutered at first, but seeing him like this makes me so sad.  The surgery went very well and he even had two baby teeth pulled because they were fractured and stuck.  WOW!  Poor Bison!

He is not happy with this funny cone on, but he cannot lick his wounds.

Bison just stands there whining, wondering what to do.

Then he puts his head down in shame and embarrassment...I feel so guilty!  Tonight may not be a good night!!!

More Chickens

Thought I would show a few more chicken photos.  I just love taking photos of them.  These were taken just the other day and since then we have gotten over a foot of snow.  So our pour little chickens are literally "cooped" up!  They hate the snow and stay inside all day long.  I get them out in the mornings by bringing them lettuce and oatmeal...even some dried meal worms.  They will come out and eat them up then go straight back into their coop.
This is Duck...yes, Duck.  She is a chicken but my husband named her Duck!  She is super "out going".  She will stand up to our dog Bison.  She will even follow him.  She is very friendly and she lays nice big brown eggs.

Here she is again-Duck!  Just love this shot of her.

And another shot of Queen Elizabeth.  She is beautiful.

So, we are surviving our snow.  I hope that you are all surviving as well.  Stay warm.  God Bless.

Dinosaurs and Snow

My daughter has been taking an online class to learn about Dinosaurs!  Today her assignment was to create her own dinosaur.  She decided to sculpt her creation!  I think it turned out perfectly perfect!!!!  I love her Hornasaur...what do you think?  She gets to share it with the other kids on her class tomorrow.  Pretty cool!

The snow finally came!!!!  10 inches or so.  It has also been super windy.  Our chickens didn't even come out of their coop.  It is so beautiful and I think more is on the way!

Hope you are all safe and sound in this crazy weather.

Craylola Chicken

Check out Craylola.  She is our other Buff Orpington girl.  She is also very sweet and funny.  She had a few problems with her down feathers near her "unmentionable" area, called a vent.  I had to cut out some poo from the backside and her feathers never grew back in.  So her bottom is a little naked.  However, she is a big, beautiful, happy chicken and she lays perfect light brown eggs.
She got a little too close in this picture.  She liked to come right up to me and look straight into my lens.  Love her!

Here she is...Miss America!!!  If you can tell, the haze in her eye is Craylola blinking.  They have an extra layer of eye lids or something. ( I am unaware of the technical terms for birds eyes)  I caught it as she was reopening her eye!  Cool.

I think she was just posing here.  She loved my camera!
You beautiful thing you!

Check out those feathers.  Isn't she pretty?

Well, I think the snow may be coming.  I keep hearing it is.  We have had only a few sprinkles of snow today.
God Bless!

Chicken Days

Just want to say that I love these chickens.  They are really cool creatures.  They are definitely easier than a dog or maybe even a cat.  They are friendly!  They provide food.  They sort of take care of themselves.  I love chickens!
Here is Chicken Nugget!  She lays small eggs and are just a nice cream color.  Perfect size for an English muffin.

Here is the Queen Elizabeth.  She is a Wyandotte chicken breed.  When she first came to us she was very scared and nervous.  She didn't like you to catch her and hold her.  However, now when you go back to greet her, she comes right up to you.  You can even pet her.  I love how beautiful she is.  She's been laying nice large dark brown eggs!

A view into the nesting box.  I love to lift the nesting box lid and find a happy chicken laying her egg.  This is Louise.  She chirps really quiet when you see her in the box.  She is my favorite.  My big Buff Orpington!  She is super friendly and loves to be held.  She lays large light brown eggs.  She has her own shape to hers too, so I can always tell it belongs to her!
I hope to post more pictures of these lovely ladies through this week.

God Bless you all and hope that your weekend is filled with Gods love!

Girls First Day of FUNatics!

First off...I didn't go up with my girls on their first day of Funatics ski group classes.  I cherish my Saturdays, because I get to be ALONE...may sound selfish, but I truly enjoy the peace and quiet.  When you homeschool, a little alone time is precious.  Also I want to credit my friend Jacinda for taking both of these photos!  She loves photos just as much as I do and I am so grateful to her for doing this for our girls!
This is Melina's ski group.  Can you see her?  She's the seventh girl from the left.  Her coach is the 5th from the left.  WOW!  I think Melina is getting too tall!  I hope they have an excellent day and I look forwards to hearing their stories when they get home!

Here is my baby!  My Olline.  She on the right.  These girls also swim together.  Skiing and swimming seems to be a thing here where we live!  I am so proud of my girls.  I sure hope it isn't too hard and icy for them.  It is a beautiful day though and the sun is trying to stay out.

Thank you Lord for our opportunities.  Keep these precious girls safe.  Help them make good decisions and guide them when I am not there.  Send your angels to them Lord.  Amen.

First Day on the Mountain

Finally, the girls were able to get on that ski lift!  They tested out their gear to make sure all will be smooth for ski groups on Saturday

A little Mosaic art photo of the girls on their skis for the first time this year!

It was a super windy day.  The snow was hard and awful.  The girls had a blast!

Off they go.  Girls are able to go by themselves!  Sort of sad.  My babies.  Now what do I do?????

I am a proud momma!  So proud they are able to ski.  So proud for the opportunities they are given.  So proud they got along!

Happy New Year -2012

Photobucket
I am so thankful for all God has bless us with!  I am even thankful for our chickens.  They provide us eggs everyday!  Mostly thankful for the family time shared when we built that coop.  I am thankful for our crazy new labrador Bison!  He keeps me moving and is showing to be a very loving dog.  I am so thankful for my children.  They also keep me moving, but the love I have for them is beyond any other feeling...it is a love only our Lord blesses us with.  I am thankful for my husband, he is my best friend, he is my soul mate and I am in love with him fully!  Without him my world would be turned upside down.
I am so thankful for all my family.  Those that live far away.  Without them, I wouldn't be who I am today!  Thank you.
Thank you for my dear friends that live here.  I am blessed by you (you know who you are).
I am thankful for a great 2011.  There will always be ups and downs; even sideways moments, but I am still gratefull and blessed.  I pray God will come into our lives even more this new year.  May we be open to His word.  Maybe we be willing to walk in His path.  May we be humbled by His doing.  Our time belongs to Him and I pray we will give fullheartedly.
